Cultural Research Centre Museum, Diocese of Jinja

Located in the heart of Jinja City, the Cultural Research Centre Museum was established in 2008 to research, collect, document, preserve and display both the tangible and intangible cultural resources of the Basoga, found in the eastern part of Uganda. Several artefacts have been collected from different parts of Busoga, documented and preserved inside the museum. The museum also focuses on the preservation and promotion of Busoga’s endangered heritage such as the Bigwala music and dance of the Basoga.

The museum is famous in promoting cultural enterprises as a way of demonstrating that one can generate income from culture through traditional Kisoga music, wood works and sculpture, pottery and basketry.

The museum is open to people from within Uganda and outside for research, education and adventure tourism.
